In my previous roles, I’ve consistently seen the power of data to drive informed decisions. For instance, while serving in the Marine Corps, I analyzed critical equipment shortfalls and financial constraints, enabling the reallocation of funding and ensuring operational continuity. This experience, coupled with the dynamic landscape of business, motivated me to pursue an M.S. in Business Analytics. I’m eager to learn cutting-edge techniques and tools that will allow me to make a greater impact in my workplace and expand my career opportunities in fields such as supply chain optimization or financial technology. I’m particularly excited about the prospect of using data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and drive strategic decision-making.
While UVA’s Instagram ads initially sparked my interest in the MSBA program, it was the combination of Darden’s prestigious reputation and the unique hybrid format that truly set it apart. The hybrid model offers the flexibility I need to balance my work and personal commitments while still providing valuable in-person experiences and networking opportunities.
The MSBA program has enhanced my analytical skills and ability to visualize information in a compelling way, enabling me to be a greater value add to Bank of America. While I am not currently in a strategic or data-oriented role, my newfound skills give me the confidence to take on new projects and look to aid other functions at the bank.
The most practical skill I’ve developed so far is data storytelling using Tableau. I believe data storytelling will be a valuable asset in my future career, enabling me to effectively communicate data-driven insights and influence decision-making.
The residencies have been invaluable to my experience in the program. Being able to step away from the distractions of work and home life allowed me to fully immerse myself in the learning environment and forge deeper connections with my classmates. The residencies have created a sense of community and camaraderie that has enriched my overall program experience.
I have not at the given moment but am looking to potentially pivot into a data-driven role where I can exercise my newfound skills in the near future.
Outside of work and school, I find myself in the gym regularly, shooting recreationally, staying up to date with the latest political news, and diving deeper into my faith alongside my wife and church community.
My best advice is to proactively connect with your teammates early on. Set up study groups and virtual meetings to foster collaboration. Teamwork is essential for success in this program. By working together, you can leverage each other’s strengths, gain diverse perspectives, and stay motivated throughout the challenges. Don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance when you need it–your teammates are your greatest resource.
