I am currently a Financial Management Specialist supporting the Stakeholder Engagement Division (SED) within the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
I decided to pursue an MSBA at the University of Virginia due to its strong analytics curriculum, experienced faculty, and program’s approach that I feel prepares me for the dynamic and interdisciplinary nature of the business analytics field.
Before I had applied to UVA’s MSBA Program, I wanted to pursue some additional learning for my career and for my personal benefit. I had saw some advertisements for the UVA MSBA Program and followed up by attending an information session. After attending the information session and sitting in one of the classes for the prior year’s MSBA cohort, I made the decision to apply for the program.
I have most enjoyed the professors and material that I have learned so far during the MSBA Program. Even though it has been challenging at times, I feel that I have learned a lot and have met a lot of great people within the cohort and program.
In terms of interests and hobbies, you can usually find me attending several Washington Nationals baseball games along with Washington Capitals hockey games during their respective team’s seasons.
I also like to read and have taken advantage of my library card and the Libby app to read books on my personal Amazon Kindle.
My favorite place that I have traveled to is Montreal, Quebec. The food, environment, and the city is great to visit, especially in the summer. The people are also friendly, and having visited there before, I was able to practice the French language I learned from my high school classes after many years!
My favorite aspect of the residencies has been both the Rosslyn residency and Charlottesville residency. I feel the weekends in Rosslyn have been a great learning experience, and the location is reachable by car, metro, etc. The Charlottesville residency was great also, in that I got to see UVA’s beautiful campus and visit the Grounds in person.
The best piece of advice that I can give for prospective students is that they should attend an info session or two and to speak with current and prior students of the program to see if the MSBA Program is a fit for them and their careers.
